Transitional Lead Pastor
I am the “Transitional Lead Pastor.” That title is meant to communicate that my primary role is to serve alongside of Pastor John for one year, learning everything I can from him, and then to become the Lead Pastor in July of 2022 when Pastor John retires. However, I see my actual job as trying to convince Pastor John that he can’t retire. If I fail at that job, I will be your next Lead Pastor in 2022.
In close to thirty years of vocational ministry I have served five different churches. From 2009 to 2021 I was the Planting Pastor of Vine Church, a church that Christ Church helped plant. While I have been blessed to see each of these churches grow in fruitfulness and faithfulness, I often say that the most fun and fruit I have experienced in my pastoral ministry was when I was the Associate Pastor of Christ Church from 2003-2007.
I am a native of Arlington, Virginia. I am a graduate of Yorktown High School, James Madison University, Asbury Theological Seminary, and Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, where I earned a Doctor of Ministry. I am passionate about preaching God’s word, introducing people to Jesus, and leading the church into faithful mission for Christ. I have been married to Margaret for 29 years. We are blessed to have three children Ana, Abi, and Josiah.
